Plus Pack was born in 1963 as a joint venture between the family-owned business of Danish Haustrups Fabriker, being the largest Scandinavian tin can manufacturer with more than 2,000 employees, and the world's largest producer of aluminium foil packaging, American Ekco containers, creating Haustrup-Ekco in Odense, Denmark
In the ‘60s, the vast increase in consumer goods and consumer trends created a demand for new types of packaging. Counters and aisles that consumers could access themselves - part of the consumer revolution - made packaging an important aspect of distinguishing between products. Aluminium emerged as a major player from these developments. And by 1967, Haustrup-Ekco's production had increased four-fold, having reached a yearly production total of about 100 million units.

The 1970's saw a boom in, especially, deli products, frozen foods and the catering business. As production increased alongside the consumer revolution and growing demands for appealing, high-quality packaging, Haustrup-Ekco grew in their areas of expertise: They entered the market for heat-sealed goods in 1979, and began developing packaging for the fast-food market in the ‘80s. Toward the end of the ‘70s, Haustrup-Ekco, as the first in the industry, took the initiative to soundproof their presses by surrounding them with noise barriers. They also put music into employee hearing protectors!
In 1993 the company separated from its American partner and acquired Ekco in Genk from the partner and took the name Plus Pack AS. Over the years Plus Pack has acquired 7 companies and has started up a joint venture in India—Pluspak Containers PvT, Ltd., and in 1996, Alisere in France was bought and packaging for inflight catering was added to Plus Pack's product inventory. 2001 saw the beginning of Plus Pack's own production of plastic with its state-of-the-art thermoforming division, that included four thermoformers adding on to the extensive range of traded products. Our seventh thermoformer was bought in 2005.

Today we have two large production facilities in Europe, offices and warehouses throughout Europe and a fast developing plastic thermoforming division. In 2005 we took over two companies abroad; Alupac in France and Luyt Metallwaren in The Netherlands. We also opened a sales office in the United Kingdom and the Plus Pack Group received the BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification. International from the start, our many divisions of Plus Pack have been joined throughout the years in their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Focus on quality, customer service, long term relations with customers and the creation of a team of motivated and competent employees are the background for the strong market positions that our customers have given us.
